Director of Tennis, Teresa Boylan
The Tennis Programs at Oakwood Country Club are under the direction of Teresa Boylan. Teresa is a USPTR-Certified and USTA High Performance teaching professional and has completed multiple certifications, including the USPPR Pickleball Certification. Prior to becoming Director of Tennis at Oakwood Country Club, Teresa held the position of Senior Director of Junior Play for USTA North Carolina. Additionally, Teresa has extensive experience as a college tennis coach and administrator at both DI and DIII institutions. Teresa has earned both BS and MS degrees in Education (K-12); MS-Exercise Science/Sport Management.
Instructional Programs and Clinics are taught by both Teresa and full-time Head Tennis Professional Jamie Megginson. Coach Jamie (USPTR) brings a wealth of coaching experiences from Divisions I, II, III for both Men's and Women's programs.

Junior programming with holistic approach for ages 4 thru 18, with high energy and game-based instruction; sportsmanship themes integrated into each class.

LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS
Red Ball ages 5-7 STARTERS
Instruction will highlight gross motor skills, balance, eye-hand skills, & racket and ball control exercises to establish the young player’s foundation for tennis through fun drills and activities.
Orange Ball & Green Ball ages 7-10 10U BEGINNERS
Orange Ball: Skill and age appropriate 60’ court and “right sized” equipment will be utilized for this short-court age group. Our energetic instruction style to set proper stroke production and footwork, with emphasis on fun!
Green Ball: Set up as introduction of tennis basics as a pre-req for new players to advance to Match Prep or Adv Yellow. Green ball play is on a full 78’ court; green ball play allows for added time for this player to execute the right shot the right way, and transition to yellow ball play with CONFIDENCE!
*Some classes may be combine dependent on class size
Yellow Ball INTERMEDIATE MATCH PREP TO ADVANCED COMPETITIVE and/or H.S. PLAYER
Players that have the basic skills can advance to Yellow Ball play that occurs in social, high school, and/or tournament settings. Players will continue honing basic skills and footwork while working on mental skills of emotional management and constructing strategic plans to assist with match success. Players will be appropriately challenged to earn success!
Saturday Yellow Ball Supervised Point Play
(Included with Wednesday H.S. Yellow Competitive Class)
Practice is important at all levels, and we put time aside for our junior yellow ball players to get some point play practice, supervised by our experienced teaching staff on a week to week basis. Players will be paired by level for singles and/or doubles and play out certain situational play patterns that will help them hone their tennis strategy and tactics in preparation for their next level of competition.

For our youngest players, this class will emphasize motor skills, balance, racket control, and fun developmentally appropriate skills and games. The goal is to acclimate each child to a fun on-court tennis environment

Orange & Green Level (10 & Under):
For juniors learning stroke patterns, footwork, rally skills, and point play. Orange and/or Green low-compression balls are used to reinforce age-appropriate skill development

Match Prep Yellow Ball – (Beg-Intermediate 11+):
For junior players that may be either learning for the first time, or preparing for middle/high school/tournament play. Players will be grouped according to level of tennis skills and point play ability (not necessarily by age).
